Deactivating Distractions

Today after careful considerations I deactivated some distractions in my life.  I have been holding onto  some distractions that are not creating any value to my life. Social Media is great but when it becomes such a bother and one is not gaining any value, IT MUST GO! Today I abolished my two Facebook accounts. Facebook I am breaking away from to create more time that I can devote to more important tasks and activities. Instagram is a wonderful simple way to post pictures and events that tell a quick story. LinkedIn another great business tool that I have found to help create contacts of value. Facebook though has become an infomercial, a distraction of time spent just clicking on the application on my phone for really no apparent reason. This is a change for me but a good one. Private messages from people who see that you are online, and want to chat about nothing, I will not miss. I could ignore those people but as many of you know it is like an addiction you must respond, you feel like you must. Then after a while you realized you have just wasted 20 minutes of chatting about nothing and then surfing the pages.  Don’t get me wrong Facebook is a great tool, especially with creating groups or pages for business. Right now I just see it as more of a distraction and want to navigate away from the things that are not adding value to my life. In reading the book The Law of Attraction I gained much knowledge about clouding the brain. I am breaking away from over stimulation of things that do not add value to my existence.

Bullying Foundation celebrates 5 years!

Being the Regional Director of The Quinton Aaron Foundation for anti-bullying is such an honor and privilege. It is so rewarding to be apart of such a great team that cares so deeply about this growing epidemic. The Foundation has such a great mentor, Quinton Aaron, the actor who played in the move, The Blind Side. The Blind Side a movie that is known for the true story of football player Michael Ore, and how he was blessed to overcome obstacles by being saved by a family who took him in. If you have not seen it go rent it. Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw portray the parents of the real life family who changed Michael’s life forever.

We all take part in educating all ages of  children and young adults at schools and functions that being bullied is not ok! Bullying should be reported!  The team also educates the adults/school authorities to take this seriously and not ignore reports of such acts. It has been reported that 45% who experience acts of bullying go unreported. The results of this fact is due to victims’ feeling it is their fault, embarrassment, and also lack of faith in the people that they confide in.

This is our fifth year anniversary of the Foundation. The founder, David Tyler and Quinton Arron, along with myself and the team, have great things for the upcoming school year. The Foundation will be going on tour to visit schools around the United States starting in August.

If anyone wants more information regarding The Quinton Aaron Foundation please email me at Stay tuned for more blogging about bullying and different scenarios for parents, teachers, and young adults that you will benefit from.  Times have changed so much since I was in school. I remember being made fun of in school but not to the degree that it has risen to today.

Summer is here for the kids. Now what?

Kids are out for the summer. Now what to do with them? Making the summer interesting and fun can be a challenge sometimes. Every summer many of us do the same thing or may have our children involved in some sort of camp or activity. The time we do get to have with our children can be expensive, and not worth the cost,  no matter what is in your wallet. I decided to come up with some interesting, fun, and hands on activities that can bring the family closer together. We as parents, can run out of ideas for activities to entertain our children.

Here are a few ideas that can be cheap, inexpensive, and sometimes free that can get you out of the house with your kids.

Historical sights: With in your area or in close driving proximity there are historical museums, homes, and venues you probably didn’t even know existed. I did a search and found some interesting locations that I did not even know were open for tours that added great value and were fast and fun for my kids.

Buy a puzzle and do it with you kids. I actually do this all the time and now I find myself doing it when they are not around. LOL It is a fun way to solve a problem and try to fit all the pieces together and be competitive.

State parks and local parks that have walking trails with an emphasis on history. The kids will enjoy being out doors and have fun sight seeing as well.

Find a local bike trail and go biking together. I am a overprotective mom so I end up screaming and making sure my kids don’t go ahead of me but it is all fun and worth it in the end. 🙂

In conclusion search google. Search local library events that you can attend. Make it interesting and not the normal trip to the theme park that usually occurs every summer. Go rent kayaks if you are near the water. I purchased some and it is so fun for the kids. I hope you enjoyed reading this and have a fantastic summer. Reading is also a great tool to engage with the kids. Make yourself the character and have fun with it.

Entrepreneur=putting the time in!

As an entrepreneur I have my hands in some great businesses. Many people think that you can just start a venture and place a media post here and there and boom you are successful. This is not the case. After a few failures I decided to educate myself and read as many books as possible to learn the game of properly conquering some set backs. I hit walls many times mostly because of fear. Fear of getting out of that comfort zone and driving full force forward with passion and great intentions.

One important factor is you must choose carefully in working for yourself in multi level marketing. There are so many schemes and dead ends that lead people to get discouraged because they signed up through someone who only cares about bringing people on board for their own selfish motivations. They have no intentions of coaching or mentoring the new recruit because they just wanted to add to there pocket.

I have selected the business ventures that I am involved in through clear thinking. Researching the company and making sure I am surrounded by a team who is all in to help achieve the goals you desire. I also made a decision to venture into my love for children and reading by becoming affiliated with an organization that not only prospers myself but is geared around my children to help them in the process. Two great companies after hitting walls with others that were just down right a joke.

You can be a part time or full time independent consultant and achieve goals and gain extra money for yourself or family but remember to choose wisely when a to good to be true offer comes your way. I, in my spare time, have been working to become a life coach to mentor others who need direction in life. I have started my own business in doing this and prefer to work with women for it is empowering to help women like myself achieve their dreams and conquer their fears.  Remember when deciding  to take on such a position you must put the work in and push hard to meet your goals. Frustration was a word I have dealt with in the beginning however, once you learn that you must work and put the hours in like any other job, then you will see the results of your venture.
